The Learning, Earning, and Parenting Program is designed to help teen parents and pregnant teens, who are receiving Ohio Works First (OWF) cash assistance, graduate from high school or earn the High School Equivalence Diploma (HSED). Teen parents and pregnant teens under age 19 and receiving OWF cash assistance are required to attend either a regular school setting, such as middle school or high school, or classes to prepare them to take the HSED exam. Teens who participate in the program receive cash bonuses for regularly attending classes, grade completion, and graduation. Supportive services, such as child care, are available for the hours that the teen is attending school. Those who choose not to participate with the program will have part or all of their OWF check taken away. |
