Applicants are required to report everyone who is living with them and all income and expenses when an application is filed for benefits. Questionable situations sometimes arise. An investigation is completed to determine if there are unreported circumstances. If there is a fraud finding, an overpayment is completed for any benefits that the household would not have been entitled to receive.
The agency pursues collection from the recipient. Collections can be obtained through payments to our agency, recoupment from benefits currently being received, and from tax return offset. |
