Comprehensive Case Management & Employment Program (CCMEP)

The OhioMeansJobs Center of Shelby County has training funds available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) to provide services to low-income youth, ages 14 - 24, who face barriers to employment.

Shelby County Ohio Job Family Services Workforce Investment Act WIA Youth Program

Individual Opportunity Plans, developed by the youth services provider, and the youth prepare youth for employment and/or post-secondary education through strong linkages between academic and occupational learning.

These strategies must incorporate one or more of the 14 required youth program elements. Some of the elements available include:

  • Tutoring, study skills & dropout prevention
  • Alternative secondary school services or dropout recovery services
  • Paid and unpaid work experiences
  • Occupational skills training
  • Leadership Development opportunities
  • Supportive services (such as transportation, child care, work uniforms, tools, etc.)
  • Adult mentoring for 12 months
  • Follow-up services for 12 months
  • Comprehensive guidance and counseling
  • Financial literacy education
  • Entrepreneurial skills training

to retain a job once they are working.
Workshops are taught by instructors
from Upper Valley Career Center and
Aspire.

Government Shutdown
Effects on SNAP
(Food Assistance)

Due to the Federal Government
Shutdown, Ohio will be  Issuing
February Food Assistance Benefits
to Participants Currently in Receipt
of SNAP 
on January 16th.

Participants will NOT receive their
benefits on their February load date
and should remember that their
benefits loaded in January will need
to last through February.

 We do not have any information
on issuances for 
March, but we
will keep you informed as soon as
we 
do. Thank you for your patience
and understanding.
