Providers
The Shelby County Department of Job and Family Services recommends to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services the licensure of Type B and Type A Child Care Homes and Providers. A Type B Home is a private home that provides care for up to six children. A Type A home is a private home that provides care for seven to twelve children. The number includes any related children who are younger than six. No more than three children can be younger than two. Care can be provided to private pay families or those receiving publicly funded child care. |
If one plans to provide publicly-funded child care and become a Licensed Child Care Provider, he/she must be recommended for licensure through the County Department of Job and Family Services. Applications ODJFS Child Care Time, Attendance and Licensed Child Care Providers are required to use the TAP system to record attendance of children who receive publicly funded child care. The caretaker or a person eligible to pick up or drop off children at a provider will use a tablet or their smart phone to record the children’s attendance.
